Short answer: Yes. TikTok works for B2B brands when the content is built around people and the problems your buyers deal with every day. The people who sign off on software, services and partnerships scroll TikTok in the evening like everyone else, and a founder explaining one problem in 40 seconds reaches them in a way a polished company post rarely does.
We run TikTok for software, tech and event brands from our office in Helsinki. In our experience, the accounts that grow fastest put a person on camera and talk about the audience’s world before they talk about the product. Below is what that looks like in practice, with numbers from our own case studies.
Who are you reaching on TikTok if you sell to businesses?
You’re reaching the same people you’d meet at a conference, just on their sofa. Buyers don’t stop being curious about their work when they close the laptop, and videos about careers, tools, startup life and how work gets done are a whole category on TikTok. The difference is the mood: people are relaxed, so they’ll give a stranger 30 seconds if the first line is about something they care about.
That’s also why the hard sell fails there: a product demo with a logo in the first second gets scrolled past, while a person saying “here’s the mistake we see every finance team make in January” gets watched.
Which TikTok formats work for B2B and tech brands?
- Founder or expert explainers. One person, one problem and one opinion per video. Strong opinions work better than balanced summaries, because they give people something to agree or argue with in the comments.
- Behind the scenes. Showing the team, the build and the launch week chaos makes a software company feel like a group of people you’d want to work with.
- Customer and community stories. Short clips of the people who use the product, in their own words.
- Reactions to your industry. News, myths and trends, explained by someone who knows the field.
- Event coverage. Hackathons, conferences and meetups give you a week of content in one day if you plan the shoot properly.
What results can B2B and tech brands get from TikTok?
Here’s what four of our software, tech and event clients got from organic TikTok. Each line links to the full case study.
- Herizon: TikTok followers grew by 8,900% and Instagram followers by 1,025% within five months, and TikTok consistently brought in more than 300,000 organic views a month. Website traffic, event sign-ups and platform registrations all rose over the same period.
- Loyatii: a loyalty app that got more than 1,000 downloads in the first week of posting, with an unfinished app and zero ad spend. TikTok went from 0 to 2,900 followers, and more than 1,500 comments included product feedback, download confirmations and interest from other businesses.
- Cluby: a brand-new TikTok account where more than 94% of views came from the For You feed, which means most views came through algorithmic discovery. The account also picked up thousands of profile views and brand searches such as “cluby” and “cluby app”.
- Junction: the hackathon’s TikTok grew from 0 to 9,000 followers, with content reaching 3 million views, alongside Instagram growth from 4,000 to 50,000 followers, all through organic social media.
How do you measure TikTok for B2B beyond views?
Views show whether the hook worked. To know whether the right people watched, we look at these numbers for B2B and tech clients:
- Profile visits and link clicks. Someone who taps through to your profile or website has moved from watching to considering.
- Branded searches. When people start searching for your company name, as happened with Cluby, your content is building recall.
- Comments and DMs with intent. Questions about pricing, partnerships or jobs are worth more than a thousand likes. In Finland especially, decision-makers rarely comment in public, so watch your DMs and profile visits closely.
- Saves and shares. A save means “I’ll need this later”. Herizon’s Instagram carousels regularly earned 500 to 1,000 saves each, on an account that started with 400 followers.
- Sign-ups, demo requests and registrations. Track them with UTM links in your bio and ask new leads where they found you.
Should TikTok replace LinkedIn for B2B?
Keep both, and give them different jobs. LinkedIn is where buyers expect to find your expertise and where a warm lead turns into a meeting. TikTok is where people who’ve never heard of you meet your founder or your team for the first time. We tailor the content to each platform, so each version suits how people use that app.
How should a B2B brand start on TikTok?
- Pick the person. Choose one or two people who know the subject and can talk naturally on camera. Founders are usually the strongest option.
- List the questions your customers ask. Twenty questions from sales calls and support tickets will give you your first month of content.
- Test hooks and formats. Try different opening lines, lengths and formats for the same idea, and keep what holds attention.
- Give it three months. That’s how long every new Meridian client gets to test, learn and double down. It’s enough time to see patterns and too short to drift.
- Review monthly. Look at saves, shares, profile visits and leads, then make more of what’s working.
Frequently asked questions
Is TikTok worth it for a small B2B company?
Yes, if someone in the company is willing to be on camera. Small teams have an advantage on TikTok because the founder can talk openly about the business, and organic reach doesn’t depend on ad budget. Loyatii got more than 1,000 app downloads in its first week of posting without spending anything on ads.
How often should a B2B brand post on TikTok?
Consistency matters more than volume. A steady rhythm of a few videos a week that you can keep up for three months beats a burst of daily posts that stops after two weeks.
Does TikTok work for B2B in Finland?
Yes. TikTok’s algorithm finds local audiences well: for one of our clients, Augusta Nordic, most traffic came from Finland even without any location targeting. Finnish decision-makers tend to watch quietly, so judge results by profile visits, DMs and leads more than by public comments.
How long does it take to see results from TikTok?
Expect early signals in the first month and a clear picture after three. We’ve written a separate guide on how long organic social media takes to show results.
