Short answer: Give Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn separate jobs, make consumer content in Finnish, bring in Finnish creators from the first month and plan your launch around the July holiday season. Finland is a small, heavily connected market: Facebook reaches 62.7% of the population and Instagram about 43% (NapoleonCat, 2026), so a brand whose content feels local can reach a large share of its audience organically.
We run organic social media for 30+ brands from our office in Helsinki, including international brands entering Finland. Below is how we'd approach a launch.
Which platforms do Finns use?
- Facebook: 3,570,400 users, 62.7% of the population, with an older audience than Instagram.
- LinkedIn: 2,500,000 users, 43.9% of the population.
- Instagram: about 2.46 million users, 43.2% of the population, with 25 to 34 year olds the largest group.
- TikTok: about 1.49 million reachable adults, 62.2% of them women (Affect Group, 2026). DataReportal figures put Finland first in the world for monthly time on TikTok per user.
Figures are for September 2026 from NapoleonCat unless stated. Our guide to Finland's social media audience in 2026 has the full breakdown and what each trend means.
Should you post in Finnish or English?
- Consumer brands: post in Finnish. Captions, on-screen text and the voice on camera should all be Finnish if you want the content to feel made for this market.
- Tech, startup and event brands: English works well with Helsinki's international tech audience. Our work with Slush runs in English and reached 45K LinkedIn followers.
- Both: keep separate posts per language and avoid mixing two languages in one caption. If you serve Swedish-speaking Finland, plan that content separately too, since Finland has two official languages.
How do Finnish audiences respond to brand content?
In our experience, Finns scroll past anything that feels like a hard sell and respond to people, honesty and humour. Behind-the-scenes content, staff on camera and clear product demonstrations tend to work better than polished campaign videos. Finnish audiences also comment less in public, so watch saves, shares, profile visits and DMs. Our guide on TikTok for B2B covers how that plays out with Finnish decision-makers.
Organic social media can carry a launch on its own. At Seoul Good, 80% of new customers found the restaurant chain through organic social media, and Holy Crab's general manager told us new customers in Finland and abroad found them after we took over their social media.
How should you work with Finnish creators?
- Look beyond follower counts. Finland's creator market is small, so micro-creators with a loyal local audience often outperform larger accounts.
- Agree how posts are labelled. Finnish creators usually mark paid posts with "kaupallinen yhteistyö" or "mainos". Agree on the label before content goes live.
- Give creators the product early. Content made by someone who has used the product for a week reads very differently from content made on day one.
- Bring creators together. A launch event with local creators gives you a week of content in one evening. We organise these as PR and influencer events.
When should you launch?
Avoid launching in July, when much of Finland is on summer holiday and many businesses slow down. In our experience, August and September work well, as people return to work and school, and the run-up to Black Friday and Christmas is busy for consumer brands. Plan your first three months to finish before the season that matters most to you.
What does a 90-day launch plan look like?
- Month 1: research and test. Learn what Finnish competitors post and what your audience asks about, then publish with deliberately different hooks and formats.
- Month 2: double down. Keep the formats that earn shares and saves and drop the rest. Brief your first creators.
- Month 3: scale and measure. Add creator content and events, and track profile visits, link clicks and sales. Our guide on how long organic social media takes to show results explains what to expect each month.
